Whirlpool Refrigerators
Whirlpool refrigerators are made by the largest appliance manufacturer in the world. By acquisition of Maytag in 2006, Whirlpool pushed Electrolux to second place worldwide. In addition to Whirlpool brand, they also produce refrigerators under Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air and KitchenAid brands, plus most of the Kenmore brand refrigerators, which are sold at Sears exclusively. With its brands, Whirlpool has the largest share of refrigerator market in US. In addition to other types, all Whirlpool brands offer French door refrigerators. Whirlpool refrigerators are known for measured fill water dispensers. Whirlpool is a responsible company (as the largest appliance manufacturer should be) – about two thirds of their refrigerators are Energy Star qualified. For each model, you can obtain a PDF file on their website, titled “Energy Guide”. The document lists particular refrigerator model's yearly energy consumption & operating costs and compares them to operating cost range of similar refrigerators on the market. The energy guide documents clearly show Energy Star qualified models have the lowest operating costs compared to similar models, whereas non-qualified models have highest operating costs in their respective classes.
