Basic GE Side By Side Refrigerator 25.0 cu ftModel#: GSS25GFXWW | The fact this is one of the cheapest GE side by side refrigerators does not mean it lacks any of the essential features. This fridge has through the door ice maker and water dispenser, external temperature controls with child lock, sealed crisper (helps preserve foods and vegetables for longer periods), adjustable (glass) shelves and door bins (also hold gallon size containers) and GE water filtration with six month filter.
Also included is FrostGuard™ technology — this is really an electronically controlled defrosting method, based on humidity control. It also monitors the number of times freezer door is opened, so it is a lot better than "standard" frost free freezers, which just turn on the defrosting heaters in periodic intervals, regardless of the real need for this or not. FrostGuard reduces humidity in the freezer compartment, so no frost is built on the freezer sidewalls and there is no frost burn on food items.
For around $1000 this unit is worth considering. It has all the features of more expensive models plus the FrostGuard defrosting technology. The only weak point is no Energy Star qualification, but energy consumption per cu ft is only slightly higher than equivalent Energy Star units. If white is not your color, this side by side model is also available in black. |
